7 Quick Ways to Make Money on Fiverr as a Freelancer
However, it's not as rosy as you might think. In fact, a lot of freelancers out there are really struggling to get jobs.
The truth is, freelancing is quite difficult to do, especially as a beginner.
No matter the platform you decide to start your freelancing career with, there's usually some form of struggle at the beginning.
While a few beginners might struggle to get even a single job offer, others may fall for job scams where they deliver jobs but aren't paid.
The first time I signed up as a freelancer on the upwork platform, many of the job offers I received were slave jobs in disguise.
A client might offer a large job for small pay and renege after you might have delivered part of the job.
Another trick by scam employers is to ask you for a sample work and instruct you to complete it following their guidelines.

These scam employers know that you are a beginner on the platform and that you are likely to be desperate for jobs to build up your profile.
So, they find a way to hoodwink you into their scam offers.
The trick to overcome this is to always ask for a paid test whenever you are asked to do a sample job.
Also, make sure that large jobs with first time clients are divided into smaller milestones that get you paid periodically.
That way, you always work for only jobs that are paid for.
Starting with Fiverr
After my experience with upwork, I moved on to Fiverr and faced a few different challenges as a beginner.
Many scam clients on fiverr would try to lure you off the platform, promising to pay you in Bitcoin.
Others would reject obviously quality jobs with the aim of getting their money back, which is then recycled towards more scam job offers.
The way to overcome these challenges as a beginner on the fiverr platform is to not be desperate. Decide to work with clients only via the fiverr escrow system, and deliver jobs whose quality can be measured.
The main issue however, is that as a beginner on the fiverr platform, getting job offers and making money is quite a slow drag.
As a beginner, you are likely to go for weeks without getting a single inquiry, not to talk of a job offer.
So, how do you overcome this? How do you fast track your freelance career from a totally confused beginner to making money within the shortest time possible?
Well, I leveraged a few methods that helped me to quickly start making money after I joined the fiverr platform. I made over 1.5million Naira in my first 3 months and I've withdrawn over $16k ever since.
So, in this post, I want to quickly show you the exact pathways that I employed to start making money fast on Fiverr, and how you can do the same.
Let's look at some of the ideas.
Find Buyers Outside Fiverr
This is the fastest way to make money on fiverr.
The idea is that clients and buyers are everywhere if you look around, so depending on Fiverr to find buyers is not just sustainable.
I've discovered that advertising your services on other platforms such as social media exposes you to a whole lot of paying customers that are willing to move the sale to Fiverr.
A few savvy sellers on Fiverr who know this method even run Google ads for their services, and they are able to attract a large sea of buyers that patronize them on fiverr.
Use Fiverr as a Payment Collection Platform
Just like trying to find buyers outside of fiverr, using the platform as a payment collection platform will change your perspective on using the platform.
If you sell a product or service online, and you want to sell to a global audience, you could leverage the fiverr platform to quickly collect payment from clients.
The only drawback could be the 20% commission fee that Fiverr collects, but again, you could add that to the markup and still make a decent profit.
Create Gigs on Trends
Trends could be the key to finding the right clients for the services you offer on Fiverr.
I've discovered that my biggest sales on Fiverr were ones where I found a new trend and used it to my advantage.
For example, the early crypto days had a lot of demand for ICO whitepapers, and the trend was sufficiently captured on Fiverr.
Sellers on Fiverr who caught the trend early on made a lot of money by using ICO hashtags as their order tags, and they attracted a lot of crypto paying customers.
The key here is finding trends early enough and creating offers and hashtags to attract new clients and make sales.
Do the $5 Jobs
Every one wants to get the high paying jobs, but who will do the $5 gigs?
The fact is, clients want to pay less and they are more likely to patronize cheaper gigs over the more expensive ones.
If you want to quickly start making money on fiverr, then you have to start taking the $5 jobs.
Do the $5 jobs superbly well, and you would have built enough momentum to start landing the big clients.
Sell Product-as-a-Service (PaaS)
One of the secret ways to quickly make money on fiverr is to offer product-as-a-service.
Fiverr is renowned as a global digital services marketplace, but it can be suited for selling digital products as a service.
You could develop a template product that could be quickly sold over and over again as a service on Fiverr.
All that is required is that you tweak details in the template to fit the unique requirements per client.
A lot of sellers do this, especially with CV writing services that are offered from an already-made template product. Little wonder why a lot of CV writing services are offered at low prices.
Send an Application to Join a Top Agency on Fiverr
If you're struggling to make money as an individual freelancer on Fiverr, then maybe you just need to partner with others who are already getting consistent jobs.
The quickest way to do this is to apply to a top agency on Fiverr.
Fiverr accepts individual freelancers as well as agency teams working together and sharing revenue made from the platform.
Many agencies are open to hiring talented people to join their teams, and start working on shared projects.
Most agencies on fiverr use a company name as their username, so they are quite easy to identify.
To find a top agency in your niche of choice, simply do a search for jobs in the niche and then make your pick from agency accounts that have a lot of orders.
You can then send in your application to join their team via personal messages. The goal is to send in a lot of applications and then hope that a few sticks.
Once you have a foot in the door, you'll have to prove that you have the required skill level to deliver high quality jobs.
Some agencies may require past job samples or personal projects, while others may request recommendations from past employers in jobs that utilized the skill in question.
If you can impress an agency and get the nod, it wouldn't be long before you start enjoying a consistent flow of jobs and start making money on fiverr.
Partner with Others to Start Freelance Agency
If you're not able to find a freelancing agency to join, you could start your own freelancing agency by partnering with others.
One way to do that is to pitch your agency idea to other freelancers in your niche, and find people who are interested in starting an agency different from their personal freelancing business.
You'd be surprised about the amount of positive responses you will get, and the results you can achieve by working with others to make money together.
Back in 2019, I came across a guy who was running a freelance agency on Fiverr and upwork together with his friends in the web development niche.
What they did was to open individual freelance accounts and then operate a joint freelance agency account on both platforms.
They sourced for jobs individually and then worked on them collectively. That way, they were able to get a consistent stream of jobs and finished them adequately in record time.
I learned a lot from watching them work, and applied some of their ideas to my freelancing system, in terms of quickly finding jobs and making money on fiverr.
You can do the same. Find friends and colleagues you already know or work with, and partner up to start a freelance agency that will fast track your journey to start making money online.
